Day 1: Fukushima Prefecture

Aizu & Urabandai

Goshikinuma (Five-Colored Ponds): A mystical cluster of volcanic lakes that change color with the seasons. The vibrant hues create a surreal landscape that is especially stunning in summer, when the surrounding greenery contrasts beautifully with the lakes’ shifting colors.

Tsuruga Castle (Aizu-Wakamatsu Castle): A beautifully restored landmark offering insight into samurai history. This imposing castle provides a glimpse into Japan’s feudal past, making it an excellent start to your cultural journey.

🛏 Overnight in your campervan around Urabandai at a roadside station (Michi-no-Eki) or RV park.

Day 2: Yamagata Prefecture

Zao & Yamadera

Okama Crater Lake (Zao): An emerald-green volcanic crater lake—magical even in summer, with lingering patches of snow.

Yamadera (Risshakuji Temple): Climb over 1,000 steps to reach panoramic views and spiritual serenity where nature and faith unite.

Local Delicacies: Chilled ramen, skewered konjac.

Overnight Stay: Around Tendo City or Zao Onsen.

Days 3–4: Miyagi Prefecture

Matsushima, Sendai & Naruko Onsen

Matsushima Bay Cruise: One of Japan’s three most scenic views—enjoy island-dotted seascapes and refreshing sea breezes.

Zuiganji Temple & Godaido Hall: Historic temple sites perfect for reflection and exploration.

Sendai City: Try famous dishes like beef tongue (gyutan), zunda shakes, and see the colorful Tanabata decorations (early August).

Naruko Onsen Village: A charming hot spring town to unwind and recharge.

Overnight Stay: Outskirts of Sendai or roadside station “Osato.”

Day 5: Iwate Prefecture

Hiraizumi & Morioka

Chusonji Temple (World Heritage Site): A revered cultural and religious site rich in history.

Morioka City Walk: Enjoy traditional cafes, retro streets, and the unique wanko soba experience.

Local Delicacies: Morioka cold noodles, jajamen.

Overnight Stay: Roadside station “Shizukuishi Anekko” or nearby areas.

Days 6–7: Aomori Prefecture

Lake Towada, Oirase Gorge, Aomori City

Oirase Gorge Hike: Tranquil trails lined with mossy rocks and crystal-clear streams.

Lake Towada Camping: Unplug by the lakeside with sunset views and a cozy campfire.

Aomori Nebuta Festival (Early August): If your timing allows, don’t miss this iconic festival of glowing floats and thunderous taiko drums.

Return Journey: Head home via ferry or Shinkansen from Aomori.

Days 8~ Hokkaido Campervan Adventure

From Aomori, take a ferry to Hokkaido or return south.

Hokkaido is a dream for nature lovers. Vast, untamed, and cooler in summer, it offers iconic drives through flower fields, volcanic ranges, and wildlife encounters.

Many travelers take the ferry from Oarai (Ibaraki) or Aomori to Hakodate, then explore:

Noboribetsu Bear Park: A safe but thrilling way to observe brown bears up close.

Furano & Biei: Lavender fields and rolling hills perfect for photography.

Shiretoko Peninsula: UNESCO wilderness filled with waterfalls and wildlife like foxes and deer.
