RV park Tsukuba Japan Ibaraki,
The Town Surrounded by culture and outdoor experiences
this is the best base for outdoor activities in Ibaraki, such as Mt.Tsukuba, Ibaraki!
RV park Tsukuba is located at the entrance to Tsukuba City.
There are convenience stores, supermarkets, DIY stores, and many restaurants in the neighborhood.
There is also a place where you can enjoy picking blueberries depending on the season.
As an outdoor base close to Tokyo, this location is suitable for use as a resting place
before entering or crossing the city.
Travel trailers are also available for rent at the facility, so you can change your mind
if you are staying for consecutive nights.
Now that I’ve mentioned the outdoors, I introduce some of the outdoor facilities and attractions arround it.
Here I would like to mention mainly information on hiking, cycling, and horseback riding.
Hiking
Mt. Tsukuba is located about 40 minutes drive from RV Park Tsukuba.
Mt. Tsukuba is made up of two mountains, the East Mountain and the West Mountain.
At the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Kanto area and Mt.Fuji.
There are 10 climbing routes that offer a variety of views.
Each of them has a different level of difficulty to climb.
Hence, not only climbers from those who just want to do a little climbing
but also those who want to take a steeper route can enjoy climbing the mountain.
There are also ropeways, so you can take the ropeway on the way back after a tiring climb.
There is also a hot spring at the foot of the mountain,
so it is a great way to heal your tired body before returning to the RV park.
Cycling
The roads around Mt. Tsukuba are quite well maintained, making it suitable for bicycle riding.
The area around Mt. Tsukuba is called “Gakuentoshi,” or “academic city,”
where research institutes are concentrated, and the area is so beautifully zoned
that even a short bike ride will be pleasant.
A little further away from the urban area, the scenery changes drastically and you will be
cycling through the countryside.
The trees and crops change color with the seasons, so no matter what time of year you visit,
spring, summer, fall, or winter, you will be treated to the richness of nature.
If there is a convenience store, buy a drink for later!
After passing through peaceful country roads, you will probably encounter a mountain pass
around Mt.Tsukuba.
Experienced climbers will probably have no problem, but for those just starting out, the slope
is a bit steep and will provide a good challenge.
After crossing the slope near the top, which is said to have an angle of inclination of more than 10%,
you will reach a rest area.
It will be a tough road, but a sip of water at this rest stop will surely be an unforgettable sip.
On the way back, you will be able to enjoy the winding road down the hill.
Please be careful of oncoming cars on this road.
On the way back to RV Park Tsukuba from Fudo Pass, there is a store called Nakane Blueberry Farm,
where you can enjoy a cup of blueberry ice cream and take a break.
The rich aroma of blueberries and the rapid supply of sugar will surely release endorphins into your
parched and tired body.
If you stay at RV Park Tsukuba, be sure to rent a bicycle nearby and enjoy cycling!
Horse Riding
Horseback riding can be experienced at Furari umagoya (stable house) which is a 40-minute drive
from RV Park Tsukuba.
It is said that Mt. Tsukuba itself was worshipped in the Edo period (1603-1868) and was often visited
by worshippers.
It is possible that people of high social standing rode horses to go to pray at the mountain.
One of the horseback riding tours offered by Furari umagoya includes riding a horse along a forest path,
so please enjoy the tour as if you were a person of high status in the Edo period.
Showering
It is natural to feel the need to take a shower after an outdoor experience.
However, some people may feel uncomfortable about the idea of taking a bath in a hot spring in an unfamiliar
country.
Many people wish they could just take a shower.
Therefore, we would like to introduce two facilities near RV Park Tsukuba where you can go within 10 minutes
and take a shower.
The first is a shower room in Doho Park.
The showers are free of charge and can be used on a first-come without a receptionist, so you could easily go rent it.
Closed on the first Wednesday of every month.
Available during the following times.
April to November: 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
December to March: 9:30 a.m. to 18:00 p.m.
(Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays: to 16:30 p.m.)
As a matter of course, please be assured that men and women are properly separated.
Next is the Tsukuba Inari-mae branch of Kaikatsu Club.
This is an Internet cafe, but it has shower facilities with key lock.
You need an admission fee (337 yen) plus a seating fee, but membership here will make your travel around
Japan much more comfortable, as you will be able to use all the KAIKATSU CLUB locations throughout Japan.
Credit cards can also be used, so although it looks too difficult to do it, we encourage you to take advantage of this service.
Next, I would like to introduce some tourist attractions.
Ushiku Great Buddha
A 30-minute drive from the RV park is the Daibutsu (Great Buddha) called Ushiku Daibutsu.
This statue is said to be the largest Buddha in the world, with a total length of 120 meters.
The sheer size of the statue is sure to be awe-inspiring.
It is so large that you may wonder if it came out of the world of mythology.
The museum is located inside the statue, and visitors can also enter the museum and look down on the scenery
and the tourists from the observation room inside the statue.
It is rare to be able to see the view from the perspective of the Great Buddha.
Please note that cash only is accepted inside the facility.
JAXA
Tsukuba, with its background as a research city, is also home to JAXA, the center of Japan’s space development.
You can visit the exhibition halls or take a tour (reservation required).
If you have come all the way to Tsukuba, why not experience not only the outdoors and culture, but also a place far away
from yourself, outside of the earth?
Thus, in the area surrounding RV Park Tsukuba, you can experience not only the outdoors, but also culture and the universe.
We hope you will try various experiences in Tsukuba starting from RV Park Tsukuba.
